The purpose of this site is to share ways and means to improving mental health, fighting and overcoming depression and codependency, aging happily and living less fearfully, and maybe even putting some magic into your life!
If we are indeed a triumvirate of body, mind, and soul, then our physical and spiritual health are dependent on good emotional and mental health. I have studied, and continue to study many modalities of thought, and strategies developed by respected authorities that help us strive for, and ensure a full, happy life. I have familiarity with many of the issues that block our paths to happiness; I continue to strive toward growth. Its hard going, but in the end worth every minute. Having spent ten years with an alcoholic, and growing up in a dysfunctional family, I am aware of the helplessness and hopelessness inherent in many situations.
1. Depression and ways of overcoming it without drugs;
2. Codependency and learning to detach and improve self-esteem;
3. Aging happily and optimistically;
4. Growing happier and achieving happiness in everyday life;
5. Bringing magic into your life
These are just a few of the themes I have begun to explore and write about. There are multiple pathways to all things; sometimes we just need a friendly voice or a helping hand to see a different path.
A recurring theme in all the research on depression is the theme of giving back, or doing for others. Dear to my heart are our domestic friends, our dogs and cats. Especially dogs, if truth be told. I am a dog person. To that end, I am putting a Donate button on my site. Feel free to leave as little as a dollar, should the spirit move you. There is a new law coming up for a vote here in Las Vegas. It would make it a misdemeanor if a pet owner did not get their dog or cat neutered or spayed. I personally feel this an outrageous violation of civil rights and privacy; however, 30,000 cats and dogs were destroyed in the last year, alone. Pet owners are not taking any responsibility. We ceased teaching values in places like schools, fifty years ago, so one of the places where we know people were taught some values, even if they weren't being taught them in the home or at church, was gone. That is part of the reason laws like this become necessary. My guy thinks it is part of the insidious trend toward government regulation and control of our lives. I don't know, but I don't want animals destroyed-animals whose only purpose and hope is to just love and be with us. Part of your donation will go to my sister in Texas, who is largely unemployed, but rescues animals all the time, and somehow manages to feed them and herself. Thank you.
